If an employee falls and the harness and lanyard work properly, is time critical in the rescue?

KAFA addresses this issue when looking at fall restraint systems as well as the overall work area for fall protection.  The answer to the above question is yes.  While most fall protection systems work well in stopping the fall when used properly, they require the person to be retrieved in a prompt fashion to avoid further injury or death.  Depending upon the harness system that is used, severe injury or death can occur in 20 - 30 minutes.
